and follow a lifestyle to avoid it. But they are not aware of the stroke. Most of the people confuse the words stroke and attack.

Difference between a stroke and an attack

These two words are mostly misunderstood by many people. The heart attack refers to the impact on the heart while stroke is associated with the brain. Both of them are fatal conditions. Both of them are caused mostly by the blockage of arteries supplying blood to these two parts of the body. Another difference between these two is that the persons who experience stroke may have seizures and those who have heart attack may have angina.

Recognize the symptoms of a stroke

It is very important to recognize the symptoms of a stroke. Then only they can act FAST and save a person. The stroke occurs when the blood supply to

the brain is blocked or the blood circulation to the brain fails. It may occur by a blockage in a blood vessel or by bleeding into the brain or space around the brain. The blockage is called ischemic stroke and the bleeding into the brain is called hemorrhagic stroke.

FAST should be the immediate word of a stroke

The word FAST stands for the immediate reaction to save the person from the stroke. It is to identify the symptoms in the four factors that begin with the alphabets of FAST. F stands for “face” and refers to the drooping of the person’s face to one side when he is asked to smile. A stands for “arm” which refers to the drifting of one arm downward when the person is asked to raise both arms. S stands for “speech” which comes with slurred words and the person struggles to repeat sentences. And T stands for “time” which is a very important factor when a person suffers a stroke.

Stoke can occur to anyone. Everyone should be aware of the symptoms of stroke and be ready to help a person who experiences a stroke.
